WSQ Personal Data Protection Management for SMEs equips participants with the essential knowledge and skills to manage personal data in compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) 2012. Learners will understand the scope and obligations under PDPA, how to notify individuals of the purpose of data collection, and how to collect and use personal data lawfully based on obtained consent. The course also emphasises the importance of ensuring data accuracy and the right protocols to rectify errors in compliance with accountability requirements.

Participants will explore practical strategies to implement best practices for data management within an SME context. Topics covered include managing the data lifecycle, operationalising PDPA through documented processes and guidelines, and ensuring proper anonymisation or cessation of data retention when it is no longer needed. The course also addresses protocols for consent withdrawal, helping businesses remain compliant and build trust with customers through responsible data governance.

Learning Outcomes

By end of the course, learners should be able to:

LO1: Notify individuals of data collection purposes in compliance with PDPA obligations and consent conditions.
LO2: Ensure accuracy and rectify errors in collected personal data following best practices and accountability requirements.

Certification

Certificate of Completion from Tertiary Infotech - Upon meeting at least 75% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from Tertiary Infotech.
OpenCerts from SkillsFuture Singapore - After passing the assessment(s) and achieving at least 75% attendance, participants will receive a OpenCert (aka Statement of Achievement) from SkillsFuture Singapore, certifying that they have achieved the Competency Standard(s) in the above Skills Framework.
